On Thursday 4th February Chailey Heritage Foundation is opening its doors to the local community for a captivating talk on its history, and an opportunity to learn about the work the charity does today. Established in 1903, Chailey Heritage Foundation has a fascinating history supporting children and young people with a range of conditions such as tuberculosis, rickets, and polio, even treating injured soldiers during both World Wars.
Guest speaker, Dr Julie Anderson, Reader in the History of Modern Medicine at the University of Kent and a member of the Gateways to the First World War network, will talk about Chailey Heritage Foundation’s unique approach to the rehabilitation of soldiers injured in the First World War.
After the talk, guests will have an opportunity to have a look round some of the facilities, meet some of the charity’s beneficiaries and speak to its dedicated staff.
The event will take place at Chailey Heritage Foundation between 6pm-8pm and is free of charge, but numbers are limited. If you would like to come along please contact Jenny Hanraads on 01825 724444 (Ext
