Fabrica gallery, in collaboration with arts and heritage organisation Strike a Light, will be hosting a free, drop-in open day at the former Holy Trinity Church to highlight The Boys on the Plaque project, which seeks to discover more about an original commemorative plaque in Fabrica (formerly Holy Trinity Church) that remembers 95 local soldiers who fought and fell during World War I. Part of the nationwide Heritage Open Days free events across England and Wales, the day will offer art activities, information displays, talks, and free afternoon tea in a relaxed and sociable environment.
Volunteer researchers will be on hand to share what they've found out about The Boys on the Plaque, and we'd like to invite visitors to bring their own family stories and keepsakes from WWI to share with us. See the full list of names commemorated on our blog – get in touch if you recognise a name!
This event will be followed by an evening screening of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari at 7.30pm.
