As part of the ongoing centenary commemoration of the First World War, Brighton Museum and the UK Punjab Heritage Association team (UKPHA) have joined forces to share fascinating stories, histories and objects.
Discover why Sikh soldiers travelled thousands of miles to fight in the First World War. Find out how the Royal Pavilion became a hospital for some of these Indian soldiers. Get hands on with 100 year old objects and see what a First World War Indian soldier uniform looks like.
Pop up talks at 1pm and 3pm with Amandeep Madra, historian and Chair of UKPHA and Kevin Bacon, Curator of the Indian Hospital display in the Royal Pavilion.
On Sunday 12 April 2015 Angad Singh a volunteer for the United Kingdom Punjab Heritage Association (UKPHA) will run the Brighton Marathon dressed in period Sikh Regiment uniform to commemorate the lives of Sikh soldiers who served during the First World War, many of whom would have been treated at the Royal Pavilion military hospital.
