Are you already working on a project related to this field, or are you planning to apply for HLF funding for a community project?
Are you a performer with an interest in developing a performance piece on a topic related to 1914-18?
Would you like to come and listen to people already working in this field talk about their research?
Gateways to the First World War is delighted to host this networking event open to everyone interested and/or engaged in researching the history of civilian and military music - of any nationality - between 1914-1918.
The aim of the event is to gather together people who are working on various projects related to music in the First World War. The day will provide a platform for researchers and performers to share their different approaches and experiences, give one another advice, expand their contacts and explore potential areas of collaboration.
Community groups who already hold - or are considering applying for - funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund for projects involving music/musical performance may find this event particularly useful.
The programme will feature speakers from the disciplines of History and Musicology, and two projects funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council will give overviews of their projects.
The event includes a performance of No Petticoats Here, a project that tells the stories of remarkable women of the First World War through song.
