The National Commemoration of the Centenary of the Battle of the Somme, Manchester.
Someone like you, a relative, someone from your area or simply a story you want to highlight – who or what will you pay tribute to with a memory square during the centenary of the Battle of the Somme?
It's through the stories of individual men and women that we come to understand the impact of this bloodiest of battles. People are already paying tribute to soldiers, mothers, munitionettes, horses, German internees, postmen, YMCA helpers and more - whose story will you tell?
To create your memory square, use a photo or make a drawing, add a written dedication and upload it here: www.somme100path.co.uk A postal option is also available.
As well as being part of an online resource, your square will be made into a ceramic tile, and laid alongside hundreds of others to form the Path of the Remembered; a temporary pathway created for the Commemorative Evening Concert in Manchester’s Heaton Park on 1st July.
Make a memory square yourself, with family members or as part of a group – be as creative as you like. Entries need to be received by 17th June.
Please email path@somme100manchester.co.uk if you’ve any questions.
