Great War Theatre is a collaborative research project in which academics, enthusiasts, and public researchers are working together to uncover the forgotten history of theatre and performance during the First World War.
Led by Gateways' Dr Helen Brooks, the team has identified just under 3000 plays licensed during the war and is now researching these plays and playwrights, using online newspapers, local archives, and scripts at the British Library.
Dr Brooks and the team are now delighted to announce the launch of their long-awaited website.
https://www.greatwartheatre.org.uk/
New developments will be underway over the next few weeks, including the uploading of scripts and new information about performances that the team has been collecting.
The team invites you to explore the website and welcomes any suggestions about information you would like to see included or changed. The website will be developing rapidly over the next few weeks so don't forget to check back for updates. You can also follow the project on Twitter at @GreatWarTheatre.
