Join us for afternoon tea, a performance based on WW1 nurses’ diaries, a visit to our exhibition and a lively panel discussion featuring five-minute talks and discussion with researchers, nurses and historians reporting from the front line of wound care past and present.

Speakers will include Professor Andrea Nelson on the role of nursing in contemporary chronic wound care; Professor Christine Hallett on nursing history and how learning about wound care in the past can help us think about current challenges; and Lt. Gary Kenward on contemporary military nursing.
The event, which is being held in memory of Nellie Spindler and other WW1 nurses, will take place during ‘Stop Pressure Ulcer Week’.
The interactive exhibition will include a WW1 Field hospital staffed by ‘Wenches in Trenches’, objects from the Thackray Medical Museum, items from the West Yorkshire Archive Service and a poster display of cutting edge contemporary and historical research in wound care.
