Love and Courage has been written by Maria Clarke, a member of Avenue Theatre Productions, and highlights the role women played in the First World War, as wives and mothers of soldiers but also working in the factories, farming, logistics and other employment which was previously solely done by men. The play has local references and scenes as well as paying tribute to some of the women who gave their lives in the service of their country, Edith Cavell and Louise do Bettignies.
The play includes music, some songs of the time and other new songs which have been written particularly for this production. The aim of the show will be to make sure the audience has a thought provoking but nonetheless entertaining evening.
