A new exhibition "Acq, a village close to the Front - the story of a village during the Great War" opens at 2pm on Friday 16 June.
Mark Connelly, Professor of Modern British History at the University of Kent, and Director of Gateways to the First World War will give a short illustrated talk on "The Arras Front in War and Memory".
The Mayor of Acq, Jean-Pierre Delcour, is expected to be present.
The exhibition takes place at St Johns Church, Barham, near Canterbury and will run for six weeks from 16 June 2017.
Acq is near to Arras and the Western Front. British, Canadian and French military headquarters were present in Acq during different campaigns launched from the Front.
The exhibition demonstrates how the local people were affected by the war in their day-to-day lives.
In a further stand the Barham Downs History Society will give glimpses into the impact of the war on the population of Barham.
All are welcome at the opening ceremony. The exhibition can otherwise be visited at the Church during the day, except at the time of a Church service.
